It's Friday Night

Happy Friday night, ya'll!

I am enjoying my evening with a cherry coke zero.  Biz and I decided to stop drinking soda during the week...Friday night is technically the weekend, right?  ;]

I am also amazed at how many nail polishes it takes to get a nice manicure that will last for more than a day or two.  Base coat, color, glitter (ohhhh fun!), and top coat.  I'm sure I'll be showing this manicure off when I have better lighting for pictures.  Three of these polishes are by Sally Hansen; one is by Wet & Wild and I'm pretty sure it will chip in an hour or so.  Oh, cheap nail polish...why are you so tempting with your fun colors?

I may or may not be wishing the Easter bunny left me more Reese's eggs.  Because I may have eaten my last one today.
On a related note, anyone want to share their Reese's eggs with me?  ;]

But I am excited because I have five new library books on my kindle to start reading.  I'm on a million hold lists, and, of course, they all became available at the same time.  I foresee a ton of reading in my future, but I'm not complaining!
P.S.- In case you are curious, the books are The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, The Sea of Monsters (Book 2 in the Percy Jackson series) by Rick Riordan, and Avalon High by Meg Cabot.  I'm not sure if I'm going to read Water for Elephants.  I'm not to interested in it right now.  Any opinions about that book?

Easter 2012

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so they could embalm him. Very early on Sunday morning, as the sun rose, they went to the tomb. They worried out loud to each other, "Who will roll back the stone from the tomb for us?"
Then they looked up, saw that it had been rolled back—it was a huge stone—and walked right in. They saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed all in white. They were completely taken aback, astonished.
He said, "Don't be afraid. I know you're looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the One they nailed on the cross. He's been raised up; he's here no longer. You can see for yourselves that the place is empty.
-Mark 16:1-7

Rejoice!  Christ is risen!

Spring Break Thoughts

This past week has been my spring break and it has been a much needed break.  But honestly, I feel like I could use one more week off.  I guess instead I'll start my countdown until summer break...only seven more weeks!  :]

So here are my random spring break thoughts...

1. Crazy drivers come out to play in the daytime.  Normally I'm at work on weekdays between 8AM and 4PM, but this week I've been around town during those hours.   I've been almost hit twice this week by drivers who weren't even looking while backing up or running a stop sign around a corner.  Seriously, I don't know what's going on.  I have a 90 minute commute each day, and I've never seen so many bad drivers.  As a female I hate saying this, but I think it's a bunch of stay-at-home moms who don't know how to drive.  For reals.

2.  While I'm ranting, I don't like middle and high schoolers.  That's the only bad thing about spring break...there are teenagers all over the place.  Mr. Biz and I felt like asking some of the "too-cool" teenagers when their mommies were coming to pick them up.  Haha, kind of mean, but a funny thought nonetheless.

3.  Hikes are fun, but heights are terrifying.  Yesterday we hiked to Panther Creek Falls, and it was beautiful, but there were many places where the path was quite narrow with a sheer drop off to the side.  I am very, very scared of heights, so I may or may not have had a minor breakdown towards the end of the hike.  Of course, I still recommend the hike.  The falls were beautiful.

4. Spring break is a great excuse to eat lots of food.  Peanut butter oreos, breakfast wraps (for dinner, of course), pizza veggie burgers (by Morningstar...try them!), lots of coffee, and Java the Nut smoothies from Planet Smoothie.  If you have a Planet Smoothie near your house, make sure to go in and get a Java the Nut.  It has coffee, peanut butter, and bananas.  It is amazing.  Addictive, really.  I've had two this week.

5. Mr. Biz makes the best eggs.  I feel sorry for everybody else because they don't get to eat his eggs several times a week.  Eggs, cheese, and diced garlic= perfection!

6. We watched the new Muppet Movie the other night.  It was pretty funny, although it was weird to hear that guy from How I Met Your Mother sing.  He's not that great.  But overall, we enjoyed the movie.  I think my favorite song was the man or Muppet one...pretty darn hilarious.  I recommend picking it up from Redbox.

7. We ate at a new place: Egg Harbor Cafe in Johns Creek.  Very impressed with the food.  I had an egg white omelet with a black bean and chicken chili, whole wheat english muffin with strawberry compote, and some potatoes.  Biz had blueberry pancakes that were also delicious.  The only thing that was disappointing was the speed of the service.  They weren't too crowded, but it still took a long time for the two of us to get our food.  But we will be back sometime soon.

Now it's just the seven week countdown till summer.  I have my birthday to look forward to in twenty-five days, so maybe that will be a fun distraction during the last few weeks of school.  Anybody else on spring break this week?

What I Eat

Spring break, baby!  I'm celebrating my week off by taking pictures of the food I eat and sharing it with you.  Exciting, right?

Annie's shell's and white cheese: This stuff is the BEST.  Add in a little (or a lot) of garlic, and the taste is through the roof.  Biz and I sometimes eat it in a spinach wrap...crazy, I know, but delicious.
Kroger Private Selection peach and mango salsa: I eat salsa on everything.  Lime tortilla chips, burgers, scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches.  Salsa is like the more delicious ketchup.
Vitamin Water Zero squeezed: I love this zero cal lemonade drink.  It's not too sour or too sweet...simply perfect for hot summer-y days.

Oat Revolution maple & brown sugar oatmeal: Oatmeal is good any time of the day, but I haven't been eating it as much now that it's 80 degrees out.  My favorite way to eat oatmeal is with a banana sliced up on top.
Skippy Natural pb with honey: This is my favorite peanut butter.  It's all natural, but you don't need to stir it.  The honey adds a little bit of sweetness, but it's not overwhelming at all.  This is delicious on a tortilla, with a banana, or with an apple.
Kashi Crisp! cinnamon crumble cereal: One of my newest finds.  Since I'm home this week, I got some 2% milk, so I figured I needed some cereal to go with it.  I haven't tried this yet, but I'm sure I'll love it!

MorningStar maple flavored fake sausage: Mr. Biz and I looove soysage (say that outloud...it makes you sound like you're from Boston).  This is our favorite brand and flavor.  Absolutely delicious!
Luna bars (chocolate dipped coconut and chocolate raspberry): I eat at least one Luna bar per day (normally more).  These are my two favorite flavors, but I also like chocolate peppermint stick and blueberry bliss.  Do yourself a favor and try one out!  They're especially good paired with a large mocha coffee.  :]

And of course, with all of that healthy stuff you've got to have some peanut butter m&m's mixed in.  :]

This is probably the most random post I've ever done, but I had a major shopping trip this afternoon and wanted to share what I got.  At other times there's hummus in the mix, eggs, pasta, pesto, and whole-wheat pasta.  What do you like to eat?  And if you're on spring break, are you doing crazier things than me?  :]

A Fantastic Weekend

Hi everyone!  I feel like I haven't posted in forever...hmm...eleven days.  That is pretty long for me!  I've been keeping quite busy with work and my social life (aka Mr. Biz), so this lil' blog has fallen by the wayside.  But no longer!  No, today I am diving back into the blogging scene with a recap of my awesome weekend.

My main squeeze, Mr. Biz, is a super responsible guy and he works really hard to be that responsible.  Therefore, he ends up working pretty much every Saturday until 6PM.  I'm cool with that, but this weekend he took Saturday off and we spent the whole day together.  It was such a treat to be able to spend so much time with him.  We went down to Atlanta to pick up his stuff for the Georgia Marathon and stopped at Le Madeline's in Duluth for lunch on the way back.  The food was pretty good, but I was unimpressed with the service.  I overheard a waiter being very rude behind a customer's back, and that really bothered me.  I might go there again, but it wouldn't be a destination I would seek out.  After that we ran around town and did some window shopping (aka, we looked at expensive things but didn't buy any of it, haha).  We ended the day with a little coffee date (we loooove coffee and have spent hundreds of dollars at Starbucks over the course of our relationship).

Our Sunday started at 5:40AM, when I met Mr. Biz and we drove down to Atlanta again.  He ran the Publix Georgia Marathon and I went with him to cheer him on.  He did an aweome job (even though it was freakishly hot), and savored the few hours of reading I got to enjoy while he running around the city.  I read the book The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen--a very enjoyable book.  I picked up another one of her eBooks from my local library and started it last night.  Hopefully I'll write about that book in another post.

A shot of random runners and the home stretch.

So anyways, after he finished the race, we drove over to Old Fourth Ward to go to Highland Bakery.  It was packed, but the food was well worth the wait.  We enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly people.  I just reviewed it on yelp, so you can read the my thoughts on it over there.  After our super filling, delicious lunch we spent a few hours visiting with Mr. Biz's grandmother, and then headed home for a delicious and nutritious dinner of doughnuts.  Yes, we ate doughnuts for dinner.  We are crazy.  ;]
My meal: cilantro corn pancakes.  Yum!

Mr. Biz's meal: peanut butter french toast.  Double yum.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.  I'm constantly amazed at how wonderful it can be to do the little mundane things of life with someone dear to you.  Jack Johnson even has a song about stuff being better together.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, as well.  Today is my youngest sister's 18th birthday. WHAT?!?  When did she grow up?  It's crazy.  In my mind I guess she's still a little kid.  Also, if she's 18 that means I must be getting freakishly old.  ;]

New Polish: Sonic Bloom

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day as much as I am enjoying mine.

I wanted to stop by for a few minutes today to show off my *new* polish: Sonic Bloom by Sally Hansen.  It's a pretty sure thing that I'm obsessed with the insta-dry polish they sell.  All of the colors cover so well and they really do dry quickly.  I'm all for an at-home manicure that lasts less than 3 hours, thankyouverymuch.

Anyways, I had planned to buy an OPI color that I saw on Fashion Polish, but Target didn't have it (boo).  So I brought this baby home and wasted no time getting it on my nails.  :]  Please don't judge by the quality of my at-home manicure...I feel that most nails look better from a distance, anyways.

I'm loving the intense red/fuchsia of this color.  It's definitely putting me in a spring break kinda mood!  I guess now I can officially start my countdown...t-18 days!  :]

P.S.- If you must know, the OPI colors I am drooling over are "Gouda Gouda Two Shoes" and "Dutch Ya' Just Love OPI?".  THEY ARE FANTASTIC.  Ebay, here I come!

Song of the Week

It's been a while since I've done song of the week, so I think it's time again.  This is a somewhat older song, but I didn't get into it until recently.  Mr. Biz actually gets the credit, I think.  He says that it is one of his running anthems--I see how that fits.  On Sunday I was sweeping the stairs and this song became my sweeping anthem.  It definitely gets me pumped up and ready kick some cleaning butt.  :]

Without any further ado, enjoy my pick for song of the week.  Let's go the distance, ya'll.
