Life's Better in the Water

Man, that 3-day weekend was exactly what the doctor ordered.  I was completely exhausted and worn out last week, emotionally and physically.  Hanging out with my buddies in Alabama was perfect.  We spent all three days in the water and it was glooooorious!  ;]

And now I'm definitely waterlogged.

Of course I didn't take any pictures to document my trip, but I did get this one of the AL welcome sign on Friday:

And this one of my wonderful, relaxing morning at Starbucks:

Now it's back to camp and "real life" until my trip to NY over the 4th of July.  Camp can be a lot of fun, but MAN it's getting hot.  This is what I saw when I got in my car at 4:00 this afternoon:

YIKES!  Stay cool, everyone!

Before Heading Out

On Monday I'm moving to Tennessee for the summer, but so much has happened this past month.  First was my 23rd birthday, and then all of these wonderful happenings:

May 5th, 2011: Cinco de Mayo small group celebration.  Possibly my last W|E small group, but it was a great one!

One of the last projects I did with my autistic class.  This is the finished project from the lesson I described in this post.  I cut out the letters myself and then glued them to the backgrounds.  The cool color paint has sand in it, so the texture is awesome.  I love the finished products.

Last Sunday: Dad and I went to a reunion at the school where he used to work and where I went to Kindergarten.  We saw Dad's old parapro, Mrs. B!

Yesterday: Kym (my co-art teacher) got me this "Love Monster" cookie from Publix.  Isn't it adorable?!  Soooo much icing...I just finished it this afternoon.  :]

Last night: The 5th graders sang the National Anthem at the G-Braves game, so we went to cheer them (and the Braves) on.  Even though we lost, it was still a fun game and I got to see the kids one last time (see Thursday's post).  Here I am with my littlest sister, Kelley (who enjoyed seeing her first baseball game).

Today: Well, I couldn't just leave that easily.  I went back to the school today to finish up some things and get the room ready for the real art teacher to come back.  My curiosity overcame me and I had to open up the kiln and see how the 5th grade clay projects turned out.  SO GREAT!  I looooove the black glaze.

So long, farewell...

Tomorrow.
Is my last day.

Everyone keeps saying, "oh, you must be so excited to be done!"

No.
I'm not really that excited to leave.
I love the kids, I love my co-workers, and I love the school.

That's the hard thing about subbing.  Once you get attached you have to move on.

Sigh, what a great four months it has been.

Sad, sad Abby.

Song of the Week

I'm loving this song right now.  Bruno, you're done it again.

Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone.

Song of the Week

I love music, although I don't talk about it often.
Today I was inspired by my friend, Mr. Strange (a fitting title):
Why don't I do a song of the week?
So here I am, with my first featured song, by one of my all-time favorite bands.  Enjoy.  :]

Artist: fun.
Track: Walking the Dog

Thumbs up!

Let's give some thumbs up today!

#1: Monday was my birthday!  If I had enough people I would give myself 23 thumbs up.

Which brings me to #2...

#2: Today is my sister Hannah's 21st birthday!  Happy b-day, lil sis!  Don't do anything crazy.  ;]

#3: Starbucks has given me one more reason to part with my hard-earned cash: half-price Frapps from 3-5PM every day till the 15th.

#4: Chick flicks are still the bomb.  My sis Kelley, my mom, and I watched From Prada to Nada yesterday afternoon.  Did you know that it is based on Sense and Sensibility?  I really enjoyed it, but that goes without saying since I'm one of those "chicks."

#5: It's Saturday!  That definitely deserves two weird, crooked thumbs up from this girl.  Enjoy your day!
