MFT: "Seasons of Michael" on The Office

     The Office has been a major part of my Thursday evenings for the past several years (along with 30 Rock and all the other NBC shows).  Every week I get a bit more sad about Michael leaving, and this past week may have made me cry multiple times.  This week My Favorite Thing is the song that everyone sang for him.  Makes me tear up every time (and then laugh when Oscar mentions the infamous kiss).

     The linky is at the bottom of the post, so please link up one of your favorite things.  I love reading your favorite things every other week-- keep it up!  Happy Monday!

MFT: 8 Tracks

     As we speak, I am listening to Sleeping Lessons on 8Tracks, aka my new favorite website.  On 8Tracks you can upload your own mixes and listen to endless mixes made by other folks.  I've found some I listen to in the morning, some that are great for springtime, and others that just make me smile.  There's just something magical about a mixtape (well, really a mix CD), especially the first time you listen when you don't quite know what to expect.  My recommendation is that you create your own profile and start finding your own favorite mixes.  Also, I'd like to take this time to make a shout-out to Mr. Strange, who creates the best mix CD's I've had the pleasure to listen to.  Thanks for making me a more pretentious music-listener.  ;]

     So this week, my favorite things are 8Tracks and the awesome songs I've listened to there.  Share one of your favorite things with us below, and maybe go visit another person's page and check out their favorite thing.  Happy Monday!  :]

MFT: Flowers

Happy Monday!

Although the weather is telling me differently, I still believe that it's SPRINGTIME!  Wahoo!  My bike is sitting in the garage just itching to be ridden, but until this rain passes it's just going to have to wait.  *sigh*  Anyways, the favorite things I'm writing about today are flowers, and not just the ones that spring up (har har, that's a season pun for ya') this time of year.  How about we let the pictures do the talking?  :]

by Mary Anne Morgan (an AMAZING photographer)

They have bushes full of these flowers in Puerto Rico...I love them!

Wouldn't it be great to have a bike with flowers all over it?  :]

I would love to live in this building.  Gorgeous.

*pictures 2-7 are from We Heart It*
     Sigh, don't you love flowers?  My co-art teacher gave me some potted Narcicuss' today as a thank you and I'm so excited to watch them grow.  Remember to link up one of your favorite things below.  Also, I think I'm gonna make this a bi-monthly linky party...any objections?

P.S.- I'm listening to this mix today on 8 Tracks...it's a great feel good mix.  Check it out!

MFT: Light @ Night

     It's that time again!  My Favorite Things!  :]

~~~
     This week my favorite thing is the extra hour of light we have in the evenings.  I love enjoying a nice relaxing evening outside in the diminishing sunlight...as long as that sunlight isn't diminishing at 5PM.  Plus, daylight savings is a great sign that "real" spring is right around the corner!  Yay!
     I love reading about all of your favorite things...they always bring a smile to my face!  And always feel free to link up late.  I know sometimes we're so busy that we don't have time for stuff like this.  If you're new to MFT, you can read this post to get a bit more info.  :]  I hope you enjoy thinking about things you love today, and possibly reading someone else's, too.
MFT: On A Cold Day Like Today...
     On a cold day like today, one of my favorite things is to find my cat doing this:
Meet my cuddly boy cat, Boo.  This is him sleeping underneath my bedspread.  I don't know how he manages to breathe under there, but he likes it, so I'll let him be.
     That's my simple MFT for this Monday...I stayed at school until 6:40 working on stuff for our county art show, so that's why this is so late.  Remember to link up one of your favorite things below!  :]
MFT: Friends (part one)
     Alright guys...I don't mean to brag, but I have some kickin' friends.  And today, they are My Favorite Thing.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon with Hook and Julie.  We ate, walked, threw the frisbee, and made a Sonic run.  Perfect afternoon, if you ask me.  I'm forever grateful for these two in my life: Hook introduced me to good music and Julie introduced me to the joy of baking/decorating/house-wifery.
Clint and Brynn...they've been discussed on here before.  I was supposed to go visit them this weekend, but that didn't end up working out.  I'll have to get out there soon.  PROMISE.
My terrace ladies: SJ, Michaela, Wigal, Amber, and Meredith.  I never would have survived my senior year of college (or any of the years, for that matter) without these five friends.  We lived together last year and we had so much fun.  I miss living with them every day.
     God has truly blessed me in the area of friendships, so this is only part one of my friends.  I don't know where I would be without the support and influence of each of these people.  They have all impacted me in huge ways, and thinking about the memories I share with them is guaranteed to brighten up the gloomiest of Mondays.
     Remember to link up with one of your favorite things!  I was having a kind of melancholy day, but thinking about my favorite things has really given me a new outlook on the rest of the day.  :]
MFT: Alphonse Mucha
     Guys, I have no idea where my brain was this past Monday.  Apparently I am really bad at doing things on a consistent basis and I forgot to do a MFT post this past week.  I'll blame it on the fact that it was Valentine's Day and I had a phone date.  Anyways, I still should have posted; I'm sure all of you were waiting with bated breath for me post (ha, of course).  No fear!  I'm back this week with another of my favorite things!
     A while ago (as in last summer) I stumbled across an artist named Alphonse Mucha.  He was from Czechoslovakia (then Moravia) and he was just an all around incredible artist.  I love his Art Nouveau style.  He created the most beautiful images of women.  This particular one has been my computer background several different times.
     For the life of me I can't remember or find what it's called.  Anyone know?  Anyways, his stuff is amazing.  I highly suggest you google some of his images.  You'll love what you find.  :]  Just for fun, here are a couple more:
A Girl in a Grain Field
Poetry
     Remember to link up below!  I'm looking forward to hearing about some of your favorite things!  (If you're new to MFT, read this post.)
MFT: Watching Grey's Anatomy Online
     About halfway through the epic Snowmageddon a few weeks ago, I started to get bored (big surprise).  I'd exhausted all of my options of things I wanted to do (i.e.- sleep, eat, sleep, play in the snow), so I had to find something with which to occupy my time.  "I can watch a show online," I thought.  Long story short, I googled "Grey's Anatomy" and since then I've watched seasons 1-4 in their entirety, as well as episode one of season five just last night.
I liked Addison until they did that whole "let's set up for Private Practice" thing in the middle of a season. Lame.
[source]
     Have I been watching too much Grey's Anatomy?  Possibly.  But it's great that I don't have to wait a week between each episode.  Although I've experienced four years worth of story in less than a month, which is kind of trippy.  To all the non-believers in finding shows online: google is your best friend.  Any site that links you to MegaVideo is choice.  Don't be afraid to look around a bit before you hit the motherload.  Oh, and season one of Grey's is on hulu for free (the last time I checked).  Enjoy.  :]
     If you could watch any show online, which one would you choose?
     Don't forget to link up your "My Favorite Things" post below!  I'm trying out Simply Linked for the first time, so let's hope it works.  :]
My Favorite Things: Charming Charlie
     Welcome to the first My Favorite Things Linky Party!  If you missed the post I wrote about it last night, read it here.  At the end of this post you can find instruction on how to join the party.  I'm excited to read about ya'lls favorite things!  :]
[source]
     Just this past Friday I discovered one of my new favorite things: the store Charming Charlie.  I'd heard about it from several different bloggers on WIWW and I was so jealous that we didn't have one in my area.  Then, lo and behold, a Charming Charlie's opened up in our mall!  Let me tell you--this store is ah-ma-zing.  Seriously.  A huge amount of cute accessories, and they aren't expensive!  It's like a Claire's for grown-ups.  Plus, it's organized by color!  That makes the type A in me just die with excitement.  I just got paid so I can't wait to go back and get some new necklaces.  I highly recommend finding a store near you.  :]
     Ok, here's what you need to do to join in with the My Favorite Things linky party. I was going to use Linky Tools, but they are moving to a paid subscription (understandable, because tons of bloggers use that site now).  Uh-oh!  So, instead you can just leave a comment with a link to your post.  I'll be looking around to see if I can find another site to host our links.  Alright everybody...link up!
My Favorite Things Linky Party!
     Mondays tend to be rough on most of us.  There's just something about having a nice weekend off that makes going back to "real life" on Monday very unpleasant.  It's hard to keep a positive outlook when you have the whole week ahead of you, especially if you're at a job that you don't really enjoy.
     In my experience, the best way to combat the Monday blues (or any type of blues, for that matter) is to think positively.  For example, at one point in my sophomore year of college, my friend Danielle and I were super stressed out with our schoolwork.  We'd been working for hours and the end was no where in sight.  In typical college fashion, I decided it was time for a break.  I pulled out some paper and markers, and we each went to work on our own "Good Things" list.  After 10 minutes or so, we'd both filled our pages with a multitude of "good things" in our lives.  Every time after that day that I started to feel stressed, I would look at my list and feel a bit more optimistic.
     Long story short, that stressful day in college and the resulting "Good Things" list is how I came up with this idea for Mondays.  Since Mondays are inherently stressful for most of us, why not have a weekly "My Favorite Things" linky party?  On each Monday, post one of your favorite things.  It doesn't have to be anything major; feel free to write about an amazing pair of shoes, a delicious desert, or your loyal childhood pet.  Come over here to graduate "extraordinaire" and share your link with us on my weekly "My Favorite Things" post.  I'll try to have mine up early in the day, but there are no promises.  :]  And I'll have a button that you can put on your post to let people know about the Linky Party you're joining.  I'm learning how to do all of this as I go, so have patience with me, please!  :]  It's going to be so fun to do some blog-hopping and read about what makes other people smile on those "manic Mondays."  :]
P.S.- I can't end this post without including a song sung by one of the most talented women ever: Karen Carpenter.
MFT: Space Heater
     My room is in the basement of my house.  Basements are cold.  Therefore, my room is cold.  Very cold.  During the winter months I somehow manage to spend a minimal amount of time down here because every time I'm in my room I feel the beginnings of frostbite on my toes (ok, maybe not that extreme, but close).  Which brings me to one of my favorite things: my space heater.
Aren't you loving the unmade bed and piles of clothes? ;]
     Oh, my glorious space heater.  It works so hard to keep me happy and un-frozen.  So, on this first Monday of 2011, I have to say thank you to this hunk of metal for keeping me warm.
P.S.- This is the first installment of a new idea I'm trying that involves reader participation!  I'm super excited about it, so stay tuned.  I got my idea from The Pleated Poppy's weekly WIWW linky party...any guesses about what it is?
