It's Friday Night

Happy Friday night, ya'll!

I am enjoying my evening with a cherry coke zero.  Biz and I decided to stop drinking soda during the week...Friday night is technically the weekend, right?  ;]

I am also amazed at how many nail polishes it takes to get a nice manicure that will last for more than a day or two.  Base coat, color, glitter (ohhhh fun!), and top coat.  I'm sure I'll be showing this manicure off when I have better lighting for pictures.  Three of these polishes are by Sally Hansen; one is by Wet & Wild and I'm pretty sure it will chip in an hour or so.  Oh, cheap nail polish...why are you so tempting with your fun colors?

I may or may not be wishing the Easter bunny left me more Reese's eggs.  Because I may have eaten my last one today.
On a related note, anyone want to share their Reese's eggs with me?  ;]

But I am excited because I have five new library books on my kindle to start reading.  I'm on a million hold lists, and, of course, they all became available at the same time.  I foresee a ton of reading in my future, but I'm not complaining!
P.S.- In case you are curious, the books are The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, The Sea of Monsters (Book 2 in the Percy Jackson series) by Rick Riordan, and Avalon High by Meg Cabot.  I'm not sure if I'm going to read Water for Elephants.  I'm not to interested in it right now.  Any opinions about that book?

I'm Feeling Pink!

No lie: pink is my favorite color. 
It is also the favorite color of the main character in the Pinkalicious book series.  Obviously we would be BFF's in real life.

Last year for Red Ribbon Week I dressed up as Junie B. Jones, another one of my favorite children's book characters.  Then for Halloween I was a hippie (of course).

This year at school we're dressing up like book characters for Halloween and I'm picking Pinkalicious (a perfect excuse to wear nothing but pink).  Tomorrow I'm heading to the mecca of homemade costumes: Goodwill.  I'll make sure to let ya'll know how my pink search turns out.  To my fellow teachers/subs/school people, what is your school doing for Halloween?  Are you dressing up?

Summer Reading Program @ Twenty-Something "Librarian"

Some of you may know about my love of books (ok, maybe a slight obsession).  When I was a kid, I would get sent to my room to clean, which really meant I sat and read a book for a few hours instead.  But as I got older, something changed.  School became more intense and I started doing this thing called "working."  I'm sure there were years when I read maybe one or two books--but now I'm changing that.  Reading is so rewarding and enjoyable...some of my favorite moments are at Starbucks with a good book.  

All of that to say...I'm joining a summer reading program for grown-ups!  There's this super cool girl that I've known for years named Melissa (or if you're me, you can call her Moosie).

She works at a library back home and loves books even more than me.  I love reading her blog about the inner workings of our local libraries and she's a very entertaining writer (check her out!).  This summer she's set up a way for all of us older folk to catalog our reading and share the books we've read.  I know some of my followers enjoy books as much as I do, or even just want to set a summer reading goal for themselves.  Head on over to her blog to check out the program, and let me know if you decide to do it!

Both were great books, but The Help was definitely my favorite of the two.  I highly recommend it.

Libraries and Disco Worship

     Can I just say how wonderful it was to wake up at 9am to the sound of rain and birds chirping?  I wish I could wake up to those sounds every day.  I am filled with a bunch of random thoughts this morning (oh wait, it's actually the afternoon now...time flies!), and where better to put them down in words than on my wonderful blog.  So, to my favorite 25 followers, enjoy my random Saturday thoughts!

Thought #1:
     I haven't been to the library in forever.  I was just reading a post on The Pioneer Woman about all the books a family got on their bi-monthly trip and I was filled with a teeny, tiny bit of jealousy about how cool the books were.  Did you know that there are whole books on style?  I didn't.  But now I'm tempted to go check one out from my local library...I should probably finish some of the 5+ books I'm reading first.  Oh, and my heart melted when I saw the books their son checked out.  All of David Macaulay's books are amazing.  I have one (Castle, I think).

Thought #2:
     Phil Wickham led worship at my church on Tuesday night.  I won't lie to you and say that I like contemporary Christian music...I wasn't super excited to go see him play. 

I was blown away.

First of all, he is an amazing artist.  One of the best guitarists I've ever heard live.  Secondly, God's presence was so obvious in the room that night.  If you've never had the chance to worship with ~1,000 other like-minded people, you're really missing out. 
     But on to what I wanted to mention.  I bought his CD, Heaven and Earth, and although it's a good album, I was definitely disappointed.  I should have known that there was no way it would live up to his live performance.  Anyways, there is one song that I didn't like at all, but now I love it for all of it's 70's vibe and kitchy feel.  Listen through till about the middle, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Thought #3:
     Ok, last random thought, that's really more of a question.  I've heard of some great photo apps for the iPhone, but none for the Android market.  Anyone know of a great photo app for Android?  If you help me find one you'll forever be known as "the person who lifted Abby's photo's out of boring obscurity."  Maybe.  ;]

Hooked on Books, Not Drugs!

     Next week is red ribbon week at most schools in the southeast (the whole US maybe?), so every day at school has a theme.  Friday is “Hooked on books, not drugs,” and we’re encouraged to dress up like one of our favorite book characters.  I have had some ideas, but I’m still not sure who/what I want to be.  I’m teaching 3rd grade, so I want it to be something they would know.  Do you have any thoughts about who I should be?  Or maybe you know who you would dress up as?  Leave your answer in a comment!
